Food For Thought

Every day, at least a couple times per day we sit down and have a meal. This keeps our bodies functioning and provides strength and energy for living but can you remember what you ate every day last week? Many think reading the Bible is useless because they can’t remember what they read. Even though our memories may fail us when it comes to a specific diet the goal of daily nourishment is met through regular consumption of food. When consuming the Word the effect is the same, daily ‘spiritual’ nourishment. Meals, whether physical or spiritual in nature, are good for the moment but it is necessary to return on a regular basis to maintain strength and health. Jesus, when responding to the tempter, spoke about spiritual nourishment in Matthew 4:4 …"It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"(NIV) So the next time you reach for a snack reach also for the book of ‘Matt’, Mark, Luke or John. Something to think about…
