Food For Thought

Even though the National Day of Prayer just took place and many individuals gathered together to pray it is necessary that we continue to meet with God on a one on one basis. Jesus was alone with His Father for more than one reason. It appears Jesus sought comfort and strength when John the Baptist was killed as noted in Matthew 14:13 where it tells us that Jesus, “…withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place.” (NIV). Early in the morning Jesus would probably seek wisdom and guidance when He met with His God as recorded in Mark 1:35, “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” (NIV). Mark 6:32 lets us know that Jesus got away on a boat just to rest. It is good for us to get away and get alone with God. This is how Jesus recharged and we should practice the same. Whenever you feel overwhelmed, stressed out or burdened take the time to get alone with your Father. Something to think about…
