The Bible informs us that we are to have a willingness to show consideration and/or appreciation to others. The word the Bible uses for this is ‘Respect’. Ephesians 5:3 lets the wife know she is to respect her husband. We also need to make the attempt to win the respect of those outside the church by our behavior. According 1Thessalonians 4:12 and in 1 Thessalonians 5:12 we are instructed to honor, with our respect, those who are overseers in the church. Additionally, we are to teach the elderly to walk in a way worthy of respect and husbands are to respect their wives according to 1 Peter 3:7. Lest anyone feel left out 1 Peter 2:17 reads, “Show proper respect to everyone…(NIV). For the Christian, extending respect should be a priority in life and always given for the cause of Christ.
