Have you ever planted seeds in a garden and then prayed for crop failure? Christians often carry out this very practice by participating in sin and then praying that it will have no effect on their relationship with God and others. Willful and deliberate sin will always influence our future lives. Galatians 6:7 says, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” (NIV). When deeds of darkness consume us, fellowship with God is curtailed and deception is practiced among our friends and families. God calls us to leave a life of sin and walk in the “newness of life” (Romans 4:6 KJV). God gives us the ability to flee temptation but we must choose to do so. Just remember, “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. (1 Corinthians 10:13, NIV). Something to think about…
