Have you ever wondered why some people come to church, get involved and then eventually leave and turn away from the faith. This can be discouraging and heart breaking to say the least. Scripture tells us why this happens in 1 John 2:19. “They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.”(NIV). We are told that their faith was never genuine. How is it then that we can be sure of our faith? God tells us that if we persevere to the end we will receive what has been promised in Heb. 10:36. Also, we are told in Romans 8:35-39 that if we truly belong to God nothing can separate us from Him. If we abide in Him He will abide in us so keep abiding and you will have great assurance of your faith. Something to think about…
