In these times of economic turmoil it is wise to keep the proper perspective on wealth. Although it is never wrong to gain and store riches they carry with them many pitfalls. It is better to have less and fear God than to have much with confusion and tumult as stated in Prov 15:16 “Better a little with the fear of the LORD than great wealth with turmoil.” (NIV). It is also more desirable to have a quite house with little income than an abundance of money and continual strife according to proverbs 17:1. Finally, being just, fair or righteous in always more advantageous than being unjust and rich. Proverbs 16:8 say, “Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice” (NIV). May the Lord bless everyone with more wealth but may everyone avoid its accompanying traps. Something to think about…
