Scripture shows the Christian life should be goal oriented when it says in Proverbs 29:18, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Several commands given to us in Titus 2 as goals are to “deny ungodliness and worldly lusts” and to “live soberly, righteously and godly in this present age.” The motivation to achieve this goal and keep it constantly on our mind is to look “for the Blessed Hope” when Christ comes and “gathers us to Himself” in the Rapture. Jesus’s return for His church can happen at any moment and its imminence encourages us to live a holy and righteous life, throwing off “everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.” Then we can fulfill the goal of making “disciples of all nations”, for as God says in Hebrews 12:14 “Pursue…holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.” Something to think about…
