When mistreated, do you demand your rights? If someone steals your possessions do you insist on compensation? Do you just avoid those who mistreat you? In every case our flesh would shout a resounding yes but it is best to check on the will of God in such circumstances. Luke 6:27-30 says, "But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.”(NIV). When we follow Christ it requires us to develop new responses to age old offenses. If you find this difficult to do, just remember Matthew 19 verse 26…”but with God all things are possible."(NIV) Something to think about...
