Food For Thought

Many of us at various times need help. Examples would be moving to another home, working on a relationship or solving a problem. Often the troubles we encounter may be self-induced. This begs the question, how much do you help those who are the cause of their own dilemmas? Do we just stop helping or do we rush in and rescue at every crisis? A few scriptures are helpful in shedding light. Matt 7:12 states, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you,…” Ask yourself how you would want to be treated and respond accordingly. Secondly, 1Thes 5:14 tells us, “And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.(NIV). Sometimes help can come in the form of counsel and not action. Timothy was told to, “correct, rebuke and encourage-- with great patience and careful instruction.” 2Tim 4:2, (NIV). Patience, then seems to be the framework of help, whether we deliver counsel, goods or time, we should always help. Something to think about…
