When faced with troubling circumstances or difficult decisions, we all have a tendency to trust in our own abilities to bring about solutions. We might even trust in the talents and skills of others for remedies. God’s Word says, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.” Psalms 20:7 (NIV). The Bible never encourages is to place our trust in other people or things to deliver us from trials. While it is wise to seek counsel from others Proverbs 3:5-6 gives us clear direction, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” (NIV).
