Food For Thought

Determining the level of our spiritual maturity is an exercise that all believers should engage in. Participating in quarreling or experiencing and acting out because of jealousy are sure signs that we are young in the faith. Paul equates being a spiritual infant with the consuming of milk when he writes in 1 Corinthians 3:2 “I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly…” (NIV). To be ‘worldly’ is to be governed by the sinful nature or the flesh and not by the Spirit of God. Our Father desires that we move on from milk and dine on ‘solid food’ as is implied in Heb 5:14, “But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” (NIV). Those who have ‘grown up’ in the faith make distinctions between right and wrong, good and evil and black and white then act accordingly. Now the question remains, how old are you in your spiritual life? Something to think about…
