Food For Thought

It was once said that evil can be defined as a violation of purpose. In the case of the Christian this would mean violating the purpose of God. This begs the question, what is the purpose of God for any Christian? Matthew 28:19 tells us that we are supposed to make disciples. Ephesians 4:13 lets us know it is the desire of God that we become mature. The bible tells us we are to be sanctified, sacrificial in giving and loving, baptized, not harsh with our wives and loving to our husbands. We are also to raise godly children, avoid unwholesome speech and pray always. The list is lengthy and in fulfilling it we often fail. God’s grace at these times covers sins as we seek his forgiveness but this does not remove our ongoing responsibility to abide in His purposes. Our goals and responsibilities should always be in line with what God desires for us. The only thing left to ask is, are we committing evil by not fulfilling God’s purposes in our lives? Something to think about...
