When God confronted Moses at the burning bush with a calling to free the Israelites from Egypt, he thought himself unfit and said “I am not eloquent…I am slow of speech and tongue.” Gideon while threshing wheat was called by the Lord to rise up and fight the Midianites. Feeling inadequate he said, “How can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” While both of these men felt unqualified for the task at hand, they were obedient and moved forward in faith fulfilling the calling God placed on their life. Has God called you to do something but you feel unqualified for the task? Perhaps you think you lack the schooling or experience for what God has in mind. A wise man once said, “God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called.” So move forward in faith and don’t be concerned about being qualified, concern yourself with being obedient.
